About Us

The surgery stands in the heart of Monkwearmouth, not far from the historic St Peter’s Church, and it occupies premises purpose-built in 1990, extended in 1995 and 2004. With both male and female doctors, our aim is to provide a complete health service for the local family and student population with a strong emphasis on prevention and health promotion.

We aim to be friendly, approachable and efficient, offering a whole range of general medical services including health checks, minor surgery, maternity care, baby clinics, contraceptive services, immunisations, travel vaccinations, screening and a number of chronic disease clinics.

We provide routine appointments normally within a maximum of 2 working days with telephone advice consultations also available.

On joining our practice, you will be registered for administrative purposes with one of our GP’s, but you are free to consult with any of our doctors with an appointment. We do, however, believe that it is in the interests of the patient to get to know a specific doctor and to stay with that doctor during any one episode of illness.

We aim to deliver a personal style of care and hope that you as a patient will help us to fulfil our role and responsibilities to you.

We work very much as a team with nurses taking on many tasks which were previously undertaken by doctors, but the doctors still retain overall responsibility for patient care.
