Other Clinical Staff

Our Practice Nurses run the health management clinics i.e. Asthma, Heart Disease, Stroke, Diabetes and Epilepsy and will do smears, blood pressure checks and travel vaccinations. Additonally they run a Travel Vaccination and Advice Clinic.

District Nurses

Sisters Ruth Collinson, Jackie Gardiner and team are based at our surgery. They carry out home assessments and provide nursing care both in the community and in our treatment room at the surgery.

Midwives (Ante Natal Clinic Tuesdays 1.30 – 3.30)
Amanda Prescott and Lucy Cumberbatch
The Midwifery team provides care and advice during pregnancy, in the Ante-Natal Clinic and after childbirth at home.  The Midwives are based at Bunny Hill Primary Care centre. Once you are pregnant, please make a booking for the ante-natal clinic when you are 8-10 weeks pregnant. Most of your ante-natal care will then take place through this clinic run by the midwives at the surgery.

Health Visitors

Melanie Cook is based at Monkwearmouth Health Centre. Melanie is mainly involved with promoting and advising on health and development issues for the under fives at the Child Health Clinic.

Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN)

Sue Gaffney specialises in community mental health care and offers a wide range of interventions or treatments such as counselling, anxiety management and mental health promotion, as well as the management of depression.

Dietician

Joanna Hay (BSc Hons SRD) holds a weekly clinic helping people where dietary advice is part of their treatment, e.g. diabetes, heart condition etc.  Referral to Wear Shaping Up Programme is also available through the practice.
